The Launch of the Club: Verve, Dignity, Curiosity

by James on Mar 31, 2010 in Founder's Notes,Guvnor

Ladies and gentlemen, the Guvnor Owners’ Club is launched.

At long last. A members’ club for owners and riders of the Pashley Guvnor.

An inspirational bicycle. A members’ club to match.

You may note we head out with some finishing work to be done. But the frame is sound, the brakes checked and the tyres all set. We have food and drink, and engineers to help finish the job while we’re on the road.

Our motto:

Verve, Dignity, Curiosity

Let’s ride together!

James Davis

Guvnor Owners’ Club

Bravo James! Excellent work, man. West Coast checking in for duty: 20.5, three-speed, and happy.

Take care,

Well I don’t know, yet. It is still in the UK and I’m in the states. My daughter (studying in London) will be handling the shipping process for me. Fingers crossed.
Best,
Jonathan

Gentleman, thanks all. Just had a cup of tea with The Cycling Photographer, a fine chap if ever there was one. It is a pleasure to be amongst a group of such like-minded companions.
Will set up more features of the club over the Easter weekend, and prize open the Member’s private forum for discussion on what’s next.

Congratulations James, a fine and yet to fully blossom club.
Gentlemen, I met James in town today: offer as much support
for this pioneering as you can muster. Many ideas and passion for
the Guvnor marque and club.
No one man can do it alone. Verve, verve, verve!
Ride on!

Jseely (Jonathan),

Excellent work on the Plus 4, sir! I am suitably–yet humbly–and maybe a wee-bit envious, as I missed my opportunity. West Coast first? Well, I was up working late if I recall. That puts you on EST at about 1-2 in the morning? Your intention is well thought of, however:) I’m glad the most enlightened parts of the US are now represented.

Bravo James!
Whilst our Duke is mostly away on other business (?) in London there is now a Guvnor in Edinburgh.

GIVE to me the life I love,
Let the lave go by me,
Give the jolly heaven above
And the byway nigh me.
Bed in the bush with stars to see,
Bread I dip in the river -
There’s the life for a man like me,
There’s the life for ever.

(from The Vagabond by Robert Louis Stevenson)
