We present a very special offer for GOC members, from our own Duchy Wheeler
Pashley Guvnor Wing Nuts, £10 a pair

They are Gripfast No.2, M9 threaded wing nuts, they are suitable for Sturmey Archer X-FD and X-RD hubs with 9mm thread axle ends. They have been sourced via the liquidator, who are the successors of the Gripfast brand. They are new/old stock that have been refurbished and tapped with 9mm thread, so they are the ‘real thing’, identical to those supplied through Pashley.

These are great!
But… we don’t have cheques in Holland. Is it possible to pay in advance by bank transfer?
Good work Geoff!
Good Morning,
Well done to you Mr. Wheeler, may I point out that if a rider wishes to use these on their rear wheel Pashley recommend using chain tugs in addition to the wing nuts as not enough torque can be applied to prevent the wheel from moving.
Regards,
Adam
Hello folks,
Now I may have this totally wrong but I can see no reason why these would not work with the 3 speed hub as long as the wings were not fouling the cable,
I say this as I was talking to an admirer of my Guv about wing nuts & he told me that he had run SA 3 speeds with wingnuts before.
either way … payday next week.
might have to indulge.

Dear DW, from you photographs I see your good lady
must be very understanding letting you keep your Guvnor indoors!?
I doff my cap to her.
Ride on!
Hello Schloopfeng
I am afraid that the rear axel on the three speed model is yet another thread size being 13/32 x 26tpi……..
Regards Adrian
Yes I was thinking that after I posted …. but really that is nothing that a tap would not possibly fix…… would it?
TTFN
Hello
13/32 is 10.3 mm, so it is possible to retap but finding a tap would be quite difficult…….
Regards Adrian….
Hello
Driving home i thought about the wing nuts for the rear 3 speed, you would also
need the collar to pull the chain and gear selector or you would not be able to select
1st gear…..Prehaps DW’s contact could make these for the 3 speed hub also….
Regards Adrian….
One and all,
Thank you all for the interest being shown.
Members outside the UK can pay by PayPal, please see my post for details in: Forum > The Members’ Club > ‘Wing Nut orders for GOC Members outside the UK’ .
Please note these wing nuts are M9 thread and only suitable for the Sturmey Archer X-FD and X-RD axle ends, so please check my post in: Forum > The Public House > ‘Wing Nuts’ dated, 12:22pm, 12 July.
Safe rides.
Hello Geoff
Many thanks, wing nuts arrived very promptly & are now proudly in place on the front wheels of the Guv’nor.
Regards
One & All,
There seemed to be much interest in these wing nuts, but this hasn’t materialised into orders, I’ve sold 7 pairs to only 4 members in the month they have been featured on the Home front page!
I accept that I speculated when I undertook sourcing and funding this Club members’ offer.
I note other members are looking to offer accessories, but with the time and effort to source and fund them, maybe these members would be wise to secure orders first before proceeding.
So come on chaps, support those members that take the time and effort to offer goodies for your Guv’nor.
Safe rides.
Gentlemen,
I concur with Duchy’s comments. I believe we are a group of like-minded gentlemen (& others) and as such we should support one another in our interests and endeavors. Let us make this site a meeting place, a conversational area and a support system for all of us.
Best,
Jonathan
RI Guv (?)
Ps. still been too busy to do anything about my frozen hub!
Gentlemen, agreed. And we all owe Duchy for his diligent research and considerable efforts in securing these parts. I doubt anyone disagrees or disrespects that. But let’s not forget a few things.
The club is about as specialist a cycling club as it’s possible to form. And that is a good thing, but also a small thing. And a slow, gentle thing. Our number is neither hurried or harried by temptation, and those that wish to order will find a way over time. If I owned a busy bike shop and sold 7 pairs of Pashley Guvnor wing nuts in a month I’d be smiling and calling that a ‘run’!
Hi Folks,
I do kinda feel bad for not rushing to buy some myself, but being a 3 speeder it seems a little pointless, I mean I still need to carry spanner for the rear anyway so I may as well stick with the security of tool requirement for the front wheel (mind you in this day & age it would possibly be an idea to carry spare wheel nuts just in case some scalley takes a shine to your posh ones … twould be a bit of a nightmare being nutless miles from home).
Still it has to be said that young Duchy is a wonderful chap who displays a vast amount of the gentlemanly spirit that this bicycle seems to emit ….. & there is one thing to note ….. if we all had wing nuts …. then Duchy’s would not be quite so special …. & anyway I would happily buy him a pint for nowt.

Mr Wheeler,
A very splendid package was waiting on my doormat when I arrived home form work this afternoon, many thanks for the lightning fast dispatch.
After spending ten minutes or so absorbing the beautiful design(!), they were dutifully assigned to my new Guv’nor. And they really look the part. An early evening cycle ride ensued, and I have to say I spent more time glancing down at the wing nuts than looking at the road ahead. But I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that I arrived home safely.
Geoff, a hearty doff of the cap for sourcing these little marvels- and providing them to GOC members for nearly half the price of Pashley… Sir, I thank you!
Kind regards,
Martin
Dear Duchy,
Do you still have any of your beautiful wing nuts left in stock?
Also, are these suitable for the rear of a single speed Guv’nor as well as the front?
Warm regards,
Dick
One & All,
I currently have 25+ pairs in stock, so if you wish to order see my details above dated February 7.
With regard to fitting to the rear X-RD hub, chain tugs are recommended.
There’s lots of information in the Forum > The Public House > page 4 ‘Wing Nuts’ and page 9 ‘Chain Tugs’.
If you any other questions or stock update either PM or email me: sjb.gfb@virgin.net
Safe rides, DW.
