Anyone know what size those Sogreni muddies are? I’m off to Copenhagen in a month or two, fully intending to visit Sogreni, and might well pick up a set for the Guv.

Wolfgang.….…. I spoke to Pashley a few weeks ago about another matter, but also asked about the long awaited range of accessories for the Guv’nor and they indicated that they were busy behind closed doors working on this project and mudguards would be the first item to appear! So it may be worth holding on, hopefully they should be available by the autumn.
I understand Bobbins Bicycles have also fitted mudguards to the Guv’nor, details I don’t know, but it may be worth an email/phone call.

Dear all,
it seems more difficult than expected to get the Sögreni mud guards in the UK, at least the ones I want (copper).
My bike dealer in Edinburgh tells me that Velorution tells him they don’t and won’t have them in stock.
My bike dealer also tells me that Sögreni tells him shipping one single set to Edinburgh will cost 50 Sterling, which seems a bit extreme, especially considering I’m in no hurry at all to get them before next autumn.

Any helpful hints would be much appreciated.

My Pashley came with some beautiful fenders.
Don’t know if they are/were a pashley accessory
but I like them.
I seen them on the Old Bicycle link– but they were not
gold pin-striped to match the westwood rims as mine are.

being the proud owner of a new guvnor single speed and winter fast approaching, (the weather in New Zealand is similar to Scotland, wet wet wet) I was thinking exactly the same as you Wolfgang — how do I get to work without getting soaked…?

now copper or wood…? copper or wood…? decisions.

Gentlemen. Just got the email I have been waiting for.Good old City Link will be dropping off my long awaited Pashley Guvnor 3 speed tomorrow.Great timing one week ahead of my big 50th birthday.I have already signed up for London to Brighton and subject to the weather will be slowly making my way down to the seaside on the black beauty come June.Its like Christmas all over again wont sleep much tonight.

It does seem a lot, this is true. But the retail price of these hand-made items alone, in Denmark, is between £65 and £120 depending on the material, width and texture. Add the cost of importing, and the specialised work to fit to the Guvnor…I shouldn’t think it’s a money making exercise.
It’s just the cost of expensive mudguards, and of course many would choose to undertake fitting themselves. I was in Velorution this morning, hoping to inspect the precise fitting, but the bike pictured above belonged to a customer and was long gone.
Personally I would choose the wood that matched closest the Brooks leather.

This is excellent and most timely news.
Over the past few days I have come close to the decision that the Guv’nor 3-speed is exactly the bike I am looking for, and today I took one for a test ride (courtesy of The Bike Cooperative in Edinburgh). An exhilarating experience in every way and on all manner of road conditions — from downhill cobblestone roads around narrow turns to asphalted straights and uphill climbs. I cannot wait to take one out on an open country road.
I was also glad today to see the frame and fork are prepared to attach mudguards, something Pashley’s online catalogue left me wondering about (they might want to change that for an extra sales pitch).
Having visited Sögreni in 2006 while living in Copenhagen I was now wondering if they make something suitable for the Guv’nor, because I refuse to let the Scottish weather dictate when I can both ride my bike and keep my trousers on when I reach my destination. Those mud guards made of copper may be just the thing I need.
The decision is made. Time to place an order for the bike and find out more about the mud guards.
