Most likely an easy question to answer, but how might one order a pair? I hear they fetch £10. A simple matter of finding a local dealer? If anyone might recommend a London source I’d be glad to hear. Unless, of course, you’d think it madness to use such things on metropolitan streets.

Morgan.….….check out ‘One Plus Four’, my comment dated 2 April. These are available through your local Pashley dealer, they are now listed as an option on their website, mine arrived by return of post. I think they look just the ticket, interestingly some of the early promotion/catalogue photos show these wingnuts, only the Plus Four was supplied with these fitted as original equipment.….….safe riding one and all, Geoff Baker ‘Duchy Wheeler’.

Good Evening Gentlemen,

Could you give me a little advice? I’ve ordered a set of these and been quoted £40 for four, is this the same price as you paid i.e. £10 per wing nut or £10 per pair?

Thanking you in advance,

Regards,

Adam

Adam.….…..I phoned Pashley about these wing nuts after I noted them listed on their website as an option. Pashley told me the price was £10 a pair (retail) and I ordered them via my local Pashley dealer, they  arrived at the dealers the next day, and £10 is what I paid.

So I suggest you refer back to your supplier, looks like they are  trying to charging double the price!!.….….hope you get it sorted, Geoff.

Geoff,

Thank you for confirming that, I had a feeling that was the case. I’m sure it’s just a miss understanding between the shop and Pashley.

Adam

Al NZ.….….I think you will find these wing nuts aren’t suitable for the rear axle on the three speed model. The SA toggle chain etc. has to be accommodated and there could also be safety and technical reasons. I also note the Plus Four isn’t fitted with these nuts on the rear axle probably due to torque/loading of the coaster brake.….…Geoff.

Yes, I heard £10 a pair too.

As Geoff says, front axel only on the 3-speed, but I’m sure they’ll look just swell. My only concern is mischievous tykes loosening or removing them in London; I keep my front wheel U-locked to the frame so quick release isn’t a problem, but imagine the scene with a loosened nut and a sudden bump in the road, you’d need to check them every time before setting off. Probably an exaggerated concern, the tyke would need an eye for detail, and a devil’s idle hands to bother.

Morgan.

Good morning one and all,

Yes, it’s true that some low life could make off or loosen these wing nuts, but on the plus side it’s very easy to check they are secure before setting off without the need of a spanner, and they do look good.….…..safe riding, Geoff.

This one? … If so, do let us know how it fits. Some pictures would be splendid, I’m thinking of it myself.

As I mentioned to Geoff “Duchy Wheeler” on the Mythical Accessories post, perhaps it wouldn’t be beyond the bounds of possibility to fit such a light to the back as well. Not quite the desired size for a rear light, but nonetheless, fitted with a red film it might make an impact. I notice they come in black, which would nicely contrast with chrome at the front. Suitable rear lights are so hard to find, so perhaps this is better than nothing (or god forbid, something like this).

Ah yes, that one. Fairly similar. I’d be curious to hear if the visor can be removed.

Bobbin Bicycles of Islington sell the one I linked to for £27 inc. delivery, just in case.

A picture or two would be super, I look forward to seeing it installed!

Thank you Geoff, as mentioned in my comments on the Mythical Accessories post, I had already identified it as the Cordo Castor. The Cordor product page I linked to above only served to confirm my suspicions! Cordor themselves tell me that Bobbin Bicycle are the sole UK dealer, and Bobbin tell me they have no stock of the black version at present, but will “keep an eye out” — it seems they just wait to see what turns up.

Mr. D. Wheeler, my nuts are fine, thank you.

When I took delivery of my Guvnor, it came with them already fitted.

Adjustment to the chain has been easy and steadfast. Highly recommended.

Ride on!
