Owners and riders, gadabouts and buyers, welcome to the Guvnor Owners’ Club forum. This area — The Public House — is open to all for discussion on topics of interest to Pashley Guvnor owners. Let us aspire to discussion both fervent and fascinating!

  • Consider your postings here to be public.
  • Please be polite and courteous.

I’m sure introductions would be warmly welcomed. So I’ll start…

My name is James and I run this blog and forum. I ride a single speed Guvnor every day through central London. I add about a mile to the journey by taking mostly backstreets, parks, cut-throughs and alleys, in order that the commute becomes a daily highlight. I’ve owned a Guvnor since June 2008.

Hi James,

Great initiative!

My name is Nils and I live in the Netherlands. Since November 2009 I am the happy owner of a 3-speed Guvnor, still wondering if the single speed wasn’t the better choice…

Since my office moved to ‘s-Hertogenbosch (90 km drive back and forth) I’m not a daily driver anymore but I will still enjoy riding it on the weekend trips with the family.

Refurbishing old bikes one of my hobbies and I even created my own pathracer from an old Gazelle Opafiets before getting my own Guvnor.

Anyway, I’m off to bed for now, it’s a little bit late (or early). Just enjoyed Sven Kramer receiving his first gold medal for the 5 km skating in Vancouver.

Welcome both.

Nils, we really ought to do more with your legendary tale of building an amazing pathracer then driving overnight to Paris to buy a Guvnor. Truly epic stuff.

Here’s a link to those beautiful refurbished bikes on flickr:

Simon, thanks, and a great pic of a typical Guvnor owner!

For those that missed it Simon’s Plus Four can be seen here:

Good evening everyone,

I’d just like to say hello, and what an excellent addition to the site I’m sure this forum will be. Thanks James

I live in the picturesque fishing village of Stockport on the outskirts of Manchester. I find the Gov the ideal antidote to modern multi-geared high maintenance bikes.

 Cheers,

Adam

James — thank you for your continued efforts on this site. Can’t wait for it to grow as successful as it deserves to. This excellent bike deserves as much publicity as it can get.

I live in Horsham West Sussex and find my Guvnor a welcome addition to my ‘stable’.

pictures of it, and my other steeds are here:-

A hearty turn out for the first day, welcome everyone!

Ian & Andrew, for some reason I had to approve your posts. I think you may have replied as unregistered ‘guests’. Please do login if you get a moment and it should save your settings. It is a bit of a pain I know as this blogging system (WordPress) sends you round the houses when you first register. But you should only have to do it once.

I think we’re going to have to map where Guvnor owners can be found, as there’s already a great spread across the UK and Europe, and of course North and South America and Australia.

Thanks all for dropping by.

Hi James

I am a dedicated Pashley Guv’nor rider and use it every day for commuting to work. Great to see a forum dedicated to the most stylish bike of all.

I’m glad to see so many french contributors as I recently rode the guvnor from London to Paris for a charity event.

Keep up the good work

Welcome Fred and Frodo, lovely to see you here, we have several French connections now.

Rarely does a particular bicycle provoke such inspiration among it’s riders. And just to let you know: the full members club will launch in March.

hello all

Today my Guvnor has been ordered, so within a few weeks I will be a proud owner!

I live in Glasgow Scotland, and as far as I am aware there is only one more guvnor owner in this city (at present)!

Enjoying this website, hopefully I can contribute some pictures once I get my bike

Welcome Jonathan, let us know when you pick it up.

Do you mind if I ask how many weeks’ wait were quoted to you? There has been plenty of variation amongst owners here, and I am wondering if there is an official line — perhaps not always met — or a genuine glimpse at a manufacturing backlog.

Hi everybody,

It’s great to know there are lots of like-minded enthusiasts out there. My main everyday bike was a Dawes Galaxy and I just bought the Guv’nor for a bit of alternative fun by using the firm’s “cycle to work scheme”. But I have to say this bike has rather got under my skin and now the Dawes languishes in the garage while the Guv’nor is now my commuter of choice for my daily 20 mile round trip.

Looking forward to reading posts from you all.

Hi James

I was told 4 weeks by the bike shop. They also phoned Pashley and they confirmed I will get my cannister with “out of date tea” (among other things).

If it arrives before the 4 weeks I will let you know :)

All  the best

Jonathan
