Good Morning, Sigg do a range of metal bottles in various colours and they are available from Cotswold Outdoor.  http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com   There are a couple of their stores in Glasgow.

Incidentally, have you ridden any of the 7stanes cycle trails and mountain-bike tracks?  I’m staying in Portpatrick soon and, in addition to the Guv’nor, I was planning to take the Marin.   Weather nice.….…..tweed run down the Rhinns.  Weather poor.….….forest trails.

Cheers, dt

Sounds like you may be after the L’Eroica water bottle:

I’m afraid I haven’t a clue how to get one, as there’s nothing I can see on their site:

I must admit that the L’Eroica aluminium water bottle with the cork lid is a standout. I saw that same image (as above) on the net when I was hunting down a water bottle set up for my Guvnor…however I couldn’t find a similar L’Eroica bottle anywhere.

I did, however, find an identical bottle cage at http://store.velo-orange.com/i.….cages.html  Velo-Orange provided really good service and they shipped to Australia at a reasonable rate, and probably cheaper shipping to the UK.

Velo-Orange have two vintage versions and both are nice, I ended up getting the Type 1 cage (no hook) and I also got an aluminium water bottle from the site as well. Photos below:

Please let me know if anyone can source the L’Eroica bottles.….I’d love to buy a couple!

Happy riding Laugh

Evening Gentlemen,

I managed to find a pair of Sigg Classics and the matching bottle tops, although they can be a little hard to find

Of course, if you are feeling a little flush you could comission Vanilla Bikes to produce to produce this for you:

Hello at all,

what a beautifull equipments!

Do you think that the black metal bottle“heritage” sold by “Cotswold” is good with the bottle cage of “Velo Orange”?

It seems to me that Adam do this with the aluminium bottles ?

Thank you very much.

Afternoon Ian,

It’s been a while since my equipment has received such praise — I thank you.

You are correct I have the Velo Orange cages, if you notice on the photograph one of each type after I inadvertently picked up a miss-matched pair. I’ve since rectified this and have  a pair without the extension.

The only slight issue I have with the cages is the bottles rattle a bit when they are empty, although I think I may be able to resolve this with some clear tape on the bottles.

By the way they are the 600ml size bottles

Adam

Gentlemen,

On the subject of the coveted L’Eroica corked water bottle, I found this entry from Northern Graeme concerning registration to the event on the LFGSS forum:

Registration opened the beginning of February — I entered the 8th Feb for 35 euros (ten extra to get your aluminium water bottle!) and flew with RyanAir from Stansted.”

So it appears to be an exclusive item for participants only!

Kind regards,

Martin

Afternoon Gentlemen,

I was watching a pair on that auction site last year, they went for around £90, a little too rich for my blood. With the benefit of hindsight I think my set-up probably cost about the same.

Hay-ho!

Evening Gentleman…

Whilst pedalling on the old Turbo in the garage this evening I got wondering how to make modern metal bottles look a little more

interesting, and started to ponder .… if you wrapped them in a sleave of leatherette (maybe honey brown or something such like),

firstly they would look more “interesting” and secondly they wouldnt rattle !.… what do you chaps think ?

Good morning Gentlemen,

I think the Velo Orange bottle is made by Klean Kanteen, I am after one of their new models called “Reflect”

which is unfortunately not yet available. See http://www.kleankanteen.com/ for further details.

But also the regular range with a flat top cap should be perfect.

I was thinking to glue either a patch of leather or cork to this flat top cap to make it look more

suitable for the Guv.

In Great Britain http://www.freshtripe.co.uk/ sells accessories from Velo Orange.

Kind regards from Germany.

p.s. @ Mr. MGCC beleive it or not, but Absolut Vodka is produced by a state owned company

from Sweden and is almost “headache-free” the next morning Wink

Sirs, I ventured into a “Pound Shop” today, (I was disguised of course. Can’t let the natives see times are hard for

the likes of us too), and bought two Sigg type bottles with matching tops. Apart from the very slightly smaller barrell,

they look wonderfully retro! £1 each. Done.

I’m not thinking from where the material came from to manufacture them though.….….

Ride on!

P.S. I’ve seen those type of vodka bottles. Same place as my underwear is ordered from.……
