Hey,

I have a Guvnor & it just makes me want an old BSA now , so.……

How does one find a BSA Path frame. I don’t think there are any here in Canada. If any of you fine chaps has one, I might love to buy it.

Sir… I think it will take a moderator to delete them for you…

as for your frame request, have you looked at ebay a few come up from time to time (not sure about Canada, noticed a few from the US, they seem happy to ship at a cost)

Just being curious Tony, what brought about the interest in that particular brand?

perhaps you saw a picture on the net somewhere? liked the brand name decals? (sounds shallow (not meant to) but it would get me as well, sometimes they look swish, i happen to have my favourite brand as well LOL, its nowhere near as well known as BSA though). it can be a slippery slope getting involved in the old bikes though, you may soon discover that getting the right parts can be difficult or expensive, by the time your finished , buying equipment to fix it, special BSA size spanners for BB and axels etc etc, spares, parts that dont get used etc, many ppl end up with a shed full of gear without realising how it got there! Laugh.

i think a Guvnor may end up being the cheaper bike in your stable, of course it depends on the level you want to restore it and whether you want it to have any modern components at all installed, just to make safer, more useful or legal to ride the roads, .e.g. things like fitting brakes or matching holes in modern hubs to old wheels that might have 32 or 40holes or tyres to fit (we have many bikes down here that have the even older/obsolete/bigger 28″ x 1 3/8 642mm size rims which presents other problems for tyres as well) ‚at least thats what i find.

another option is to get to know the history of the local area your in (assuming its your home town) and picking up a historic local brand bike that will no doubt be cheaper, most of those bikes in the day were fitted with BSA parts, so you get to have a brand/bike that as you ride around all the locals recognise and admire and lashings of chrome BSA branded gear all over it, just a thought and option is all

still if ya got to do it then ya just have too, you have been warned but enjoySmile

cheers

Hi,

I am a big BSA motorbike fan & never knew they made bicycles. I also have the old British size tools form my dad. Anyway I know it is a big pain to restore stuff, I restore vintage tube amps & guitars as my day job. I do have 15 years of collecting very rare parts in my stock for them.

For old bikes I have nothing but be fun to start. I would like to get a complete BSA & just restore it all.

I found an old 60s Reynolds 531 CCM (Canadian made frame/fork) will build it up & see how it goes.

But I like this bike, BSA in British Racing GreenSmile
