 What ho chaps,

Iv’e been very exited this last week , waiting for my first accessory for the Guv .

 A Brooks Challenge tool bag.

Whell what can I say, It looks absolutly spiffing on the back of the B17, alas space is tight.

I have managed to squeeze 3 trye leavers, the spare inner tube that was supplied , and I found a 10mm spanner ( for the rear brake arm) and “King Dick”

But Dick is a little large for his bag, as he sticks out a bit both sides !

Has anyone else had this problem , or is it just me ?

shall i look for a smaller spanner ??

What, everything? The night I came home from Pongo Twistleton’s birthday party and mistook the standing lamp for a burglar?

My good fellow — it is most certainly a problem!

I too, have a rather lovely period leather tool bag that sits rather neatly under the saddle but have found that my King Dick is a bit on the long side for a perfect fit! (Incidentally Lady Booster has never complained!)

One solution may be to find a shorter version of your King Dick — I do believe that they were made shorter originally and I think I may have one lurking in one of my many tool boxes so may route it out and give it a whirl. Bally annoying for it not to fit into one’s bag or even worse, having it protrude from your pocket — not very gentlemanly at all.

You may be able to find one if you were so inclined to attend an autojumble or bike jumble where quite often there are loose tools for sale ( I perish the thought of rummaging around loose tools but some times needs must!)

Good luck old chap — I do hope you find something a bit larger to fit your “Dick” into!

fossil.….…..suggest you take a peek at Topic ‘Maintenance’ currently on page 7.

The Brooks Challenge bag is a tad compact and the issue of what to carry will always have to be a compromise between want and need.

Some of these better quality multi-tools may to fit the bill, also worth looking at the ‘Cyclo’ dumbell spanner for compactness.

Safe rides ‘One & All’.
