Dear sirs, hello,

I throw again this post. Without interest ? Already treated in another post?

http://www.guvnorownersclub.co.….ts/page-3/

The subject was this piece that I think Pashley can built the same with his spécial guvnor wings adapted for our bikes ?

What do you think of this idea ?

Thank you.

Ian.….…..forgive me, but are you asking whether Pashley will produce this type of wing nut for the rear axle 3 speed model?

I’m sorry to say that I think that is very unlikely, going by their response to enquiries regarding spare parts etc.. Pashley just don’t seem to be interested in getting involved in much beyond manufacturing of complete cycles, leaving the supply of parts and after market components to others.

Safe rides ‘One & All’.

O.K. dear Dutchy,thank you.

I imagine if this sort of wing nut is manufactured it is possible that the same manufacturer built nuts with the tipical Pashley wings.

Nobody have see wing nuts as on the photo on a bike. International rea

International readers of this site, nobody have seen wing nuts as on the photo on a bike ? In the case of O.k. what town, what bike, what seller etc…

I think that our bikes will be very pretty with the same four wing nuts in place of the horrid Pashley screw.

Actually as a lot of you I have two on front wheel only and I don’t like that…

It’s not very important , it’s a detail but “hell lives in the details!!!”

DW Sir.… is it possible to put one of your wing nuts on the rear other side (on the non drive side) ?

Thanks MGcC

I just found this from your goodself DW… so I assume the answer to my question is a “no” ?

Hello MGcC

It looks like you have already found out about the different thread sizes. I made up a set for the rear of my 3 speed Guv’nor which was not to

difficult to do. If you read in the members section under “Wing Nut orders for GOC members outside the uk” it explains all.

They did make wing nuts for the rear 3 speed Sturmey hub, but will not match front wing nuts. What i did was

buy a pair of 3/8 x 26tpi gripfast wing nuts in the same style. I then drilled them out with a 9mm drill ( should

be 9.2mm hole but still tapped out OK ), then tapped out with a 13/32 x 26tpi tap. Nearside wing nut fits easy.

Offside there is 3 threads left inside the outside of the wing nut the same as the front wing nuts (if that makes

sense). I then found an old sturmy hub and cut off 10 mm of the shaft which screwed into the end of the wing

nut. I then had to cut off the tube from the original gear cable side nut which is already threaded inside and

screw to the shaft. Last thing is to measure 10mm from end of gear rod mark and tippex new mark on to

the chain. I also added chain tugs to be on the safe side, the one’s with flat thin washers. They have now

been fitted on the the Guvnor for about 9 months and done about 500 miles with no problems. Sounds a lot

of work, but probley done quicker than typing these instructions out. I will try to get some pictures soon.

Regards Adrian
