Eh up me ducks (Derbyshire translator available if required !)… I’d like to throw this ride into the hat for possible consideration sometime down the line. I’ve ridden it a few times some years ago, very easy riding (being a converted victorian railway line), means you can get into the heart of the Peaks and its amazing views without having to do any of the hard climbs etc.…

… probably the nicest ride is from Ashbourne to Buxton… Tissington Trail, then High Peak trail. It can get a little busy, but if your not pushing on its all very polite easy going riding.

Excellent, Sir! I’m definitely in on that one, good choice. It appears we will have to bring the old BMX skills into play to do the bunny hops across the river, though…

Incidentally, a cycling chum (who is based in the midlands) recently brought to my attention an old route that was opened up a couple of months ago. Goes by the name of the Monsal Trail, also based in The Peaks. He did it on his 1930’s roadster a couple of weeks ago, and mentioned it would be an ideal jaunt for the Guvnors… the route has been open for years, but is now improved on account of the tunnels now open for access. Perhaps you might know of it? Here’s the link:

Another one to throw into the hat for a future ride, I think.

Kind regards,

Martin

Evening Gentlemen,

At the risk of being Black Balled, Mrs. Adam and I did a lovely 50 miler leaving Ashbourne last year from the CTC routes, a little hilly to start with but soon leveling off. Obviously as it was a CTC route cafe stops and pubs were in abundance.

Please find enclosed a little article regarding the trails in the Peak District, the intention to ultimately create a circuit  but for now funding has unfortunately run out.

Gentlemen

It would appear as though there is a plethora or rides available to us — I am game for any of them — bring it on!

Perhaps we should pencil some of these rides in for the October and November jaunts bearing in mind we are booked in for Mid August at Stratford on Avon and Mid September at the Tour of Britain stage in Stoke on Trent.

Seems like a suitable holly run should be devised for Christmas? Any suggestions?
