The Trial at 13mi or the Cauldron at 53? And I guess next year April time.……
As an aside, do we buy our smaller rear sprockets in pounds or Guineas I wouldve thought in ‘gentlemans money’ - any thoughts not sure my local emporium wuld know what a guinea looked like (and I’m certain a without name super chain store would)
1 guinea = £1-1s-0d ( £1/1/- ) = one pound and one shilling = 21 shillings or 21/- (which is £1.05 in todays money) apparently!
Allegedly, a guinea was considered a more gentlemanly amount than £1. You paid tradesmen, such as a carpenter, in pounds but gentlemen, such as an artist, in guineas.
So one sprocket will be approx’ 3 guineas and the young lad behind the counter could keep the change
The Guv is clearly an art form and ridden by one might say ‘artists’ as opposed to other forms of bicyclist?
Mr. Biscuit, interesting food for thought, maybe I should only deal in Guineas when out and about on the Guv? By the way the 53, if a man is to fail he should always fail aiming for the pinnacle.
Mr. Fossil, I never thought you were anything else, than a gentleman.
