Hi I’m new to the Guv’nor and this site!! I bought my 3 speed 24.5 inch frame Gov’nor at the weekend and love it!! It took some getting used to after my specialized Rock Hopper but for my Daily Cruise from Hove to Rottingdean and back its Great!! It took some adjustment as I’m 6 foot six so its as big as I can make it ‚but it goes well once going and gives a better work out than a Mountain bike!! PDI was not as good as I’d hoped with lots of bolts being loose and loosing the front brake (cable came loose on the front brake ) whist travelling at speed but I’m still alive to tell the tale. I guess I need to keep an eye on it over the first few weeks as cables stretch etc. Anyway I love it and look forward to long ownership . Cheers!! Robbo

Welcome sir! Yes, the Guv’ proffers a gentile approach to riding. It’s a bit like riding a horse:

a show of masterfulness without force brings out the best in both Guv’ and mount.

It’s a shame that some of the vendors around these days keep their eyes on sales rather than

service. PDI’s, or ‘make sure the bloody thing is just right and safe before the customer takes

ownership’ is a rare thing these days! The odd few are true gems to be supported with future

sales.

Ride on!

Welcome Robo me old chap… Don’t worry about the odd brake falling off, thats why you have two !

On serious note, find yourself a good “Local Bike Shop” and get them to give the bike a good seeing to, might cost you £40, which you shouldnt have to pay of course because the supplying monkeys should have already done the work properly, but hey ho…

On another point, I’ve never seen a “Double Top” would be interesting to see some close up pictures if you get chance, or even get yourself along to one of our “gentlemens jaunts” for a ride…

Hi Chaps, I’ve actually given it a good going over myself as I am pretty mechanically minded, and am happy its all ok. Its a bit like a classic car or Motorcycle and a bit of fiddling is to be expected. Looks easy to work on and well made . Lets hope the Summer drags on a bit Longer!!

I have to say Robbo Sir, it does feel to have the same “ethos” behind it… and considering your front brake fell off, this seemed appropriate ! Wink MGcC

Welcome Robbo,

Glad your getting to grips with your new machine. It’s pretty sad to hear that is was delivered to you in such a poor and dangerous state though.

Great pics of T.E. Lawrence Mr. MG, a friend of mine used to live very close to the site of where he was killed on his motorcycle, and shes swears everynow and again late at night you can hear the sound of a ghostly motorcycle riding through the lanes… maybe too much gin… but who knows?
