Mornin’ all,

While out for a ride over the weekend I noticed the advanced warning signage for the London to Brighton this weekend which got me thinking…

Perhaps it would be good fun to get a group of like-minded Guvnor owners together for the ride next year?

A word of warning though — a bit of training would be advised! I took the Guv’ up the infamous (to those who’ve done it before or live in the local area anyway!) Ditchling Beacon, and the experience was exhausting at best, borderline heart attack inducing at worst! I’m not the fittest of chaps at present but the though of doing that after 40 to 50 miles is a little worrying!

Any takers?

I’m doing it tomorrow, not on the Guv mind.….but on one of my carbon fibre lovelies. Last year it took me 3hrs and 2 mins and I think that’s the fastest I’ll ever do it in.

Easy on a carbon racing bike, doing it on the Guv would be a much more sociable affair. I’m not sure Ditchling would be enjoyable with just 3 gears to choose from though !!

If I did it, it’ll be on the single speed.

Hello chaps ’

just looking through these esteemed pages (starting at the big numbers and working my way to the start ?) and came accros this little ditty ‚.

Did it come to pass ?

Re gearing for ditchling beacon , I have joined the “fridays” a group of cyclists that start from Hyde Park Corner at midnight and head for the coast,

I did the one to Bognor Regis ( cos I live there )

But the next one was to Brighton  ( which I was not able to atend ) But back to my story , a lad did the whole jount on a bmx !!

Good afternoon Gentlemen,

London to Brighton sounds like a hoot, Mr Fossil– I would gladly add my Guv to a Pashley Peloton. Messrs Rhys, Andrew and Fenrir– interested?

Kind regards,

Martin

Gents,

Sorry to rain on anybody’s peloton but unless somebody has block booked places for the London-Brighton jaunt, it may be too late for this year.

However, if anybody does have transferable places…

Ah, that’s a shame Mr McF… and I’d just got the Brooks Jersey out in readiness. Still, I can paw it a little before popping it away again.

Kind regards,

Martin

Dar Martin,

Please note that I am relying on secondhand information here!  There may be hope still.

Kind regards,

Yes… yes… there is always hope. I shall engage in a spot of frantic keyboard action, and see what gives. Expect a report on your desk by the morning.

Kind regards,

Martin
