Just picked uo my Guv’nor 2 today, and generally really please — a nice alternative to all the my ‘modern’ rides.

One thing annoying me though, and would be greatful for some feedback…  Neither of the wheels run true.  They are not even close.  Is this normal or should I be taking it back to the shop.  I appreciate it causes no ‘real’ problem due to the hub brakes, but it is driving me nuts looking down at wheels wobbling away as I cycle.  surely this isn’t right ?

Cheers,

Andy

Carps.….…it’s back to your retailer you must go! I’m surprised this wasn’t picked up on their pre-delivery inspection, hub brakes or no, the wheels should run true.….…..safe rides, ‘One & All’.

Cool — thought it was strange, but never having had such a beast before…  Seems odd that it is both wheels — and they are way out…

I’lll give them a shout first thing Tuesday.  Hopefully they will get it sorted real quick, as it has been a long wait !

Cheers, Andy

Mr. Carps,

Just to echo Mr. Wheeler’s sentiments, the wheels should indeed be round and true.

This is a rule I ideally would encourage most people to apply to wheels, unless you name is Coco the Clown and you are looking at your company transport.

Regards,

Adam

When you say “true” what do you mean. You can find that the SA hubs pull on the side with the brake arm. Simply undo the hubs and tighten up the side of the hub with no brake arms first. They may help.

Carps,

Anything to report on your wobbling wheels yet?

You seem to be the first of our number to have taken ownership of a ‘Plus Two’.

So I wondered if you could confirm a few details on the production model; the number of teeth on the chainwheel and the rear sprocket, did it come with wing nuts on the front axle and how are you finding riding a cycle with a two speed coaster brake hub?

Safe rides, ‘One & All’.

Hi,

one wheel is fixed, but the rear ha bigger spokes and the shop had lent out there spoke key to a motorbike shop…   so they are fixing that today.

I’ll check out the chain ring and sprockets later, and also the gear ratios.  Coaster brakes are ok, but the back pedal gearshift takes a little bit of getting used to, as it only requires a lught back pedal to shift, and it’s quite easy to do it unwittingly.

No wing nuts as standard, so I’ll have to order some

Cheers,

Andy
