As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I’m not really a fan of cycle specific clothing that isn’t waterproof, but I’ve been a jammy git and won a competition for one of Rapha’s club jerseys!

If anyone is thinking of buying one & wants the rundown when it arrives, let me know and I’ll put a small review and some pics up.

Mr. Fenrir,

How’s the top bearing up? I noticed that Rapha had them in the sale but noticed they have a fairly high man-made fibre content. Does this effect the natural ability of Merino to combat odour at all?

Adam

Got it in the post yesterday. Quite nice, although a bit of an old man texture to it. Reminds me of the sort of thing Sid James wears in Carry On Camping.

Very nicely made though, with lots of small details. Afraid I’m not good on the technical side of things, but I see they’ve dropped £20 off the asking price now. I went for the Pegoretti colours.

Oh, free dvd too!

One & All,

Just a ‘heads-up’ on a current Rapha merino wool bundle offer, which may be of interest to you fellows:

     http://www.rapha.cc/breton-swe.….er-bundle/

Inspiration for the sweater has been taken from the style worn by ‘Lucien Petit-Breton’ 1882–1917, winner of the Tour de France in 1907 & 1908.

Perhaps a tad pricey at £140, but Rapha kit is fit for purpose, also quite a saving to be had buying the two items together.

Christmas is fast approaching so maybe a few subtly hints could be in order!!

Safe rides, Geoff.

One & All,

Just a quick ‘heads up’ that Rapha currently have a Sale on, with free delivery and returns to the end of January. Various items in the Sale, which may well be of interest to you fellows, include merino jerseys, caps, gloves and more.

The rain jacket is well recommended. I’ve got the grey version.

One & All,

I’ve just come across a new cycling jacket due autumn-winter 2011/12. 5 minute video featured on the Brooks England website > Our Blog, “Timothy Everest talks us through the Criterion”, posted 22 February.

Designed by bespoke tailor Timothy Everest, so start saving if you fancy one!

Also featured on the video is a Guv’nor, finished in Brooks olive green, with their Oxford Rain Cape stowed on the top tube.

Safe rides, DW.

Good afternoon Gentlemen,

I’ve just been sent a pointer by electronic mail from Rapha (thanks again to Mr Adam for suggesting my signing up to their newsletter), they have an Autumn & Winter clearance going on right this very minute until Sunday 1st May, ending at midnight GMT. I noticed the merino jerseys are half price, as you can imagine there is limited size and colours available… but at half price (£60 instead of rrp £120), some Guvnor owners might be lucky obtaining the right fit.

Kind regards,

Martin

Martin,

Thanks for this.  Am sorely tempted by the purple Paul Smith merino jersey.  A word of sartorial advice from those in the know please: how forgiving or unforgiving would such a jersey be to the fuller figured amongst us?  Which, I suppose, includes me!

Answers on an electronic postcard, please, to avoid a wardrobe disaster!

I’m sure the Captain of the Greyfriars Velo Club wears nought else but Rapha+Paul Smith.

Evening Gentlemen,

Mr. Martin, my pleasure.

Mr Alex McF, Mrs Adam bought me one of the Paul Smith jerseys for Christmas, although she has also received the Rapha email so I fear I’ll not be getting one next year. Back to your question, I’m 6′ and about 12 and a half stone depending on lunch and have a medium. It’s a slim fit but not figure hugging.

I will add the quality of the wool and the feel of the cut is lovely. When Mrs. Adam purchased it for me it was expensive but with a pinch of salt and a little positive thinking we almost justified it, at this price it’s a steal.

Regards,

Adam

Gentleman

Just had one of these arrive today, http://www.prendas.co.uk/detai.….sp?ID=2701 and I have to say I’m very pleased indeed. For sure this will be uniform of choice for any up and coming Guv’nor Sportive events (New Forest Rattler, TOB Stokio Trentino)

(ps… I think I managed to get the last 3xl, Santini is very Italian sizing, so be careful… my suit chest size is 40″… Santini size 44~46″ !, I could probably get away with the 2xl, but I prefer a more relaxed fit on retrospective attire)

Adam,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.  I pounced last night.  Carpe diem and all that.

Stand by for a bargain on eBay if it all goes horribly wrong!

Morning Gentlemen,

Mr. MGcC, nice find. Italian sizes are truely unique aren’t they. Maybe it’s related to the Italian male’s national psyche, all strapping bulls?

Mr. McF, I’m sure you’ll be happy with it, I’m afraid I’ve fed my P.S. addiction this morning too.

Adam

Morning gents,

Just to say I have taken delivery of my Rapha Paul Smith long sleeved jersey in purple and I could not be more pleased!  It oozes quality and the XL is a  snug but not revealing fit.  ‘Slimming’ was the word my wife used!  Thanks for the tip.

Chaps,

I came across this website a while back and keep planning on ordering a Jersey from them. Since I found our good website I though would it not be an idea for a group order to be placed.  Since my good wife is due to deliver our sixth child in the next few weeks I don’t have the time for international communications but if somebody wanted to takes the reins I am sure we could produce a Jersey for the Guv’nor Owner’s club (price comes down the more we order).

I was originally looking at ‘The Broadway’ or ‘The New Burnside’ and get Pashley embroidered on it, maybe with Guv’nor Owner’s club on a second line below.

I suspect James may need to have an input on this.

Adam,

Thanks for the link. It won’t get round my torso, sad to say, as it’s a lovely piece of kit ( the jersey, not my torso!).

Brooks Challenge Bag in brown up for grabs today as well.  The typo in the description might help keep bidding down…
