Gentlemen, having never been that keen on Pashleys choice of brake levers… Any chaps have any replacement suggestions ?

… would these fit/work do you think ? (I cant recall the Guv’nor handle bar width, though i do have some nitto bars on my fixed bicycle, so could use on that if they were wrong)

What ho chap,

I know what you meen  abouth the leavers , that was my first thought when i saw the Guv  in pictures .

I have just measured my bar and it seems to be 21 mm  so it looks like those leavers are too large,

Though they would look fantastic !

What, everything? The night I came home from Pongo Twistleton’s birthday party and mistook the standing lamp for a burglar?

Dear MGcC,

the diameter of the handlebars at my Guvnor is 22.2mm, so as Mr. Fossil pointed out already those levers will not fit.

But you might have a look at these: http://www.theoldbicycleshowro.….2115-p.asp

or these: http://www.theoldbicycleshowro.….2114-p.asp

Kind regards from Germany,

What ho Topper,

I say those brake leavers look the ticket , what!

My measurement was a bit vauge as my verniers are at work and so I improvised with an adjustable spanner and a tape measure  Laugh

Spot on Topper, thank you sir .…

… are they difficult to fit, i have no experience of this type of levers, (all my tinkering over the years has been on drop road levers, brakes etc) ?

Thanks again MGcC

MGcC.….…..I think you will find the original equipment Guv’nor brake cables are Sturmey Archer.

Front (900mm) HSK 730 and rear (1600mm) HSK 738.

http://www.sjscycles.com  carry a good range of SA parts and provide excellent mail order service.

Safe rides, ‘One & All’.

Has any of you fine gentlemen completed this brakelever modification and have any pictures? Curious mind since I just ordered a pair of Dia Compe 135’s for my Guv’nor too. Interestingly enough, all British dealers found in the web were out of stock, so ordred mine across the pond from the new world. Planning to find a more period correct shifter too at some point, a local dealer has a NOS trigger shifter for a more than just a reasonable price, hmm.…

To be honest Bigsby old chap, I’ve changed my mind about them for the time being, I’ve decided to use them on my single speed instead (which has truly terrible tektro brakes, which are now almost unusable) so I’m putting in some new cables as well to try and improve things for the winter… Embarassed
