Evening Gentlemen,

I think most of us agreed that £1.5k for the Clubman was a little strong, how about £6k for the new Pashley GB?

http://road.cc/content/news/42.….components

Funnily enough this reminds me of a conversation I was having with fellow Guvnor owners not long ago regarding the direction Pashley should go. If I was luckily enough to be in the market for a 6k bike I still think I would be going made to measure, but for one of those multi-geared new fangled things it is jolly good looking.

Regards,

Adam

Not 100% sure about that bike, but I’m 100% sure thats the direction Pashley need to go.… Heritage and Quality (and that includes pre and post purchase dealings with their potential and current customers)… otherwise cheap foreign imitations will simply swamp them

I am liking the GB bar and stem

What, everything? The night I came home from Pongo Twistleton’s birthday party and mistook the standing lamp for a burglar?

That has to be a joke 6k, no offence I understand what Pashley are trying to do, move up market but there is no way someone is going to pay that for a steel bike. For example go to Roberts for a made to measure frame would cost you a little over a grand. I think 3k built up would be more realistic with top equipment, it just makes them look a bit greedy.

I do however like the look of the stem that could be a winner.

Anyway that’s my penny’s worth.

I agree Irobot Sir.… but I would imagine they are just throwing it out there and see what comes of it… now if they were to move some of that GB kit down onto their Clubman models and don’t go silly on the pricing… well then things are going to get very interesting…

… I for one would be very interested in say a Mercian handbuilt frame with GB finishing kit Smile (need a drool smiley at this point)

Morning Gentlemen,

I wonder why they haven’t used Reynolds tubing? Pashley really are an enigma inside a puzzle box at times.

Can you get oversized ‘spinners’, akin to those one often sees on Hummers, for the wheels ?

Cheers!

Now I have composed myself, clean briefs and cavalry twills, I have to add that one could acquire

a Hetchings for less, and would have to agree, a bespoke Mercian as a new alternative. Sorry.

Saving hard.

You have to say Gentlemen, at £6K its pretty much £2K more than the most expensive Mercian you can have built, (around £4K) and the Mercian would come with Reynolds 853 or 953 Tubing, and Campagnolo Super Record groupset (possibly still the best groupset in existence… forget that battery operated Shimano business but if thats your thing then it still only adds £600 or thereabouts)…

My dream Mercian is the Strada Speciale with its hand cut Cloverleaf lugs

When the chaps build you a frame, they keep your measurements in the workshop along with the frame number… its like having a bespoke suit made.… these chaps are artists…

Six thousand pounds? Are they insane? Is there no limit to Pashley’s contempt towards the cycling community? They really are the Delorian of bicycles, and deserve the same fate. And to think that an Australian is one of the frame buiders — the shame of it.
