My apologies, you are indeed a member and have been for some time! I’m afraid the behind the scenes system is not automated in any way, and with all new members I must find the time to set things up regards the forum and email settings…please look out for an email from me today, and welcome to the club!
Hi James
I have tried to log into he members area of the forum several times and keep getting a message that I need to be a full member to access this area. Do I need to register again.
Keep up the good work the website is great
Thanks Jim
Jim, should be sorted now, apologies. Behind the scenes the forum doesn’t talk to the membership application, and my ad hoc linking between the two is a little patchy. Count on me for a real ale if and when we meet.
James
What a fantastic forum – can’t wait to join etc Recently took the Guv’nor on a London to Paris run where he was much the envy of all those with their carbon fibre jobbies…they are absolutely fantastic wheels and just a pure joy to use (except when there is a puncture in their rear tyre!).
@Fenrir Most gratifying to be recognised and followed! Indeed I am most definitely a Guv’nor fan and proud owner (love at first sight), and in some ways I suppose a lover of all things that hark back to that earlier age where functionability and beauty were seen as being compatible.
I recently posted in the Welcome forum….added a P.S. that I have filled out the membership application twice (similar to some above comments) to no avail. Thought to mention here as well. This was a couple of weeks ago, when I had the pleasure of securing a 3-speed Guv. I have registered as well. Help is on the way?
As a Dutchman living in England I just HAD to have a Pashley. My Guvnor (3 speed, tall frame) is “not just a pretty face” but a genuinly good and very usable bike. I own 5 bicycles (racer, hybrid, MTB, cyclo-cross) but have only used the Pashley since I picked it up a few weeks back. Shopping, fast commute (20 miles one-way) and joyfull trips through the Cotswolds, it does it all in style and surprisingy ease. The brakes were a bit wooden when new but have improved a lot. The good ol’ 3 speed Sturmey Archer has well chosen ratios and are sufficient to get me up and down the Cotswolds hills; I very rarely miss the 27 speeds I have on some of my other bikes. I am afraid that I have fitted some modern accessories like a Pletscher kickstand and bright Cateye LED lights (some of the roads I travel are pitch-dark) and I have occasionally sinned by clipping-on a seatpost carrier with bags to carry some stuff around to the office (I have trouble wearing back-packs). No tweed cap, woolen jumper, carbid headlight or keeping the bike in the living-room over the winter for me: the Guvnor is just too good and too much fun to not being used every day. It’s a brilliant bike!
Hi there i have tried to join with not much success as i have not heard anything back.I have given you my girlfriends email this time.I have a plus 4 number 19 22.5 frame bought from evans wandsworth in january of this year, and i love it. my mobile is 07768 42 33 77 feel free to ring anytime. Thanx Martin.
Probably the reason you have not had any response to your membership applications, comments and forum postings is that our Founder and administrator James ‘jmkd’ is still in the midst of relocating etc., see his post in ‘Public House’ > ‘Normal service will resume shortly’.
So please be patient, in the meantime there’s plenty of postings you can access in Forum ‘Public House’ and Comments covering a multitude of Guv’nor related topics, which I’m sure you will find something of interest.
Thanks! The update is much appreciated. I figured that the Founder was heavily occupied in the world and then will have a rather large backlog to go through, but it is nice to know that our patience will be rewarded!
Dear all, thank you so much for your patience. I make rather a despicable administrator, but have finally processed all applications from the last few weeks. Welcome again!
James
Welcome back James! As for somehow being “despicable,” not at all. Sometimes life intervenes in some of the most precarious and inexplicable ways. Onward Guv’nors!
I have just purchased my Guv’nor this afternoon, and after a splendid first ride out I am happy to report that it is now residing in the living room so that I can feast my eyes upon this beautiful creation right up ’til bedtime. I love it. It goes very well with the waxed moustache and tweed, too. And! I am very pleased to be a part of the Guv’nor Owners Club. Pip pip!
Esteemed Sir,
I have had my attention drawn to the delightful machines known as Guvnors and shall be very grateful if you will let me know if such treasures might be for sale in South Africa. I would undertake to join the club, put away my vainglorious quest for speed and chimerical accomplishment and take to the highways and byways in a manner that speaks of dignity and decorum.
I am already attempting to source some appropriate plus-fours for the purpose.
Hello Gregory,
I’ve had a look on the Pashley website: http://www.pashley.co.uk > Where to buy > International Dealers, and sadly there aren’t any dealers in SA or anywhere on the African continent. It maybe worth contacting Pashley to see if they will supply you direct, although I think this is very unlikely, or if they know of a dealer who is willing to ship to SA.
Hope you find a way forward on your quest for Guv’nor ownership.
Safe rides, DW.
what a joy! looking for a new bicycle that would look like if i had to design a bicycle… found the guvnor 3 speed… saved some money… got it… wow. i live in a hilly city and is incredibly easy goin’ up, and so comfy and safe goin’ down! wow!
Hi James,
Sorry to bother you – I submitted an application for membership at the end of June but I can’t seem to post on the forum (plus I can’t gain access to the member’s area). Am I actually a proper member yet? When I go to post a comment, I do the math bit, hit ‘post reply’ and my message disappears into the ether. Any help would be appreciated.

Dear Mr. Tastic, alas this sanctioning of detail is overseen by our founder, James.
Trouble is none has seen or heard anything from him for yonks!
Not much help I’m afraid but stay posted. Watch this space and keep in touch.
Dear Tastic old chap, worry not, post in the general forum any questions thoughts or deliberations, thats where all the “in crowd” hang out anyway, its a little like the kitchen at the best parties ;-)
Thanks for the info chaps! However Mr CycleChap, I can’t even seem to post on the general forum. I’ve tried several times and my message vanishes, never to be seen by mortal eyes again! Most frustrating for a fellow.
How very bizare Mr Tastic… as rule I’ve been told your first post is moderated, (and the moderators are pretty quick… well, Mr Adam isnt, but the other chaps are fine) then you are free to post away…. suggest you maybe you come up with a new name and start a thread or something… see what happens !
Mr Gelinas… worry not, nobody posts in the members only section, don’t be concerned all the interesting people are in the “public” section, your first post is moderated (which is done swiftly) then you are free to post etc as you feel…
Mr Evans old chap, get youtself over to the http://www.theguvnorsassembly.com new forum set up by some of the chaps from here… far easier to join me old fellow
Very sadly it looks like this website is an empty vessel. Most if not all of the active members have now moved over to the site mentioned above by MGcC.
A great shame, but the GOC founder James Davis, for whatever reason, hasn’t been actively involved for some time and only he has access to administer the site.
Some of the long standing GOC members have tried to keep things going here and take over the baton from James, but to no avail.
Nevertheless, I would like to thank James on behalf of the Guv’nor owners’ community that came together in the first place due to his efforts and wish him well for the future.

A proud owner of 24.5 (3 speed)Pashley Guv’nor checking in, sir.
Hussah!! – and congratulations, well done James and anyone else involved
I think the last time I was in a club with a motto it was “Be prepared”
Verve, Dignity and Curiosity… It’s a perfect gentlemen’s club motto.
How many members are there? Will be really interesting to hear from owners everywhere. Well done to everyone involved with this site!
Hurrah! God bless her and all who sail in her!
Now where did I put my gin and tonic?
I filled out the membership application twice but I have got no reaction to it. Seems that it is not that easy to join the GOC …

Bummel, I’ve been following your blog for a couple of months now. Suspected you were a Guv, but wasn’t 100% sure.

I agree wholeheartedly, hence my bookmarking the blog. Did actually get an email update earlier which I meant to read at lunchtime.

Yes, any news on the iffy repairs and service front?

Evening Mr. I Robot,
Assuming you’ve filled the above form in, it’s just a case of waiting for our peripatetic leader to process the virtual paperwork.
Regards,
Adam
I’d like to register my Guv’nor 2. Could you please add this option to the membership application?

Lukas
